TOUR DETAILS:

OLYMPICS 2012 WORKSHOP
A Sustainable Olympic Park! – Your students will investigate issues surrounding sustainability, focusing on the Olympic Park as an example. They’ll be divided into teams and will debate arguments “for” and “against” the need for an Olympic Games in the East End of London. They’ll identify evidence to support their argument and present to the rest of the group.

The STUDYTRIPS workshops are educator led and located on the edge of the Olympic site, with magnificent views of main Stadium; Velodrome; Aquatics centre and the Village. The sessions are 2 hours in length and have been developed to compliment the Curriculum.

OLYMPIC PARK TOUR
Both the external structure of the striking 80,000 seat Olympic stadium, the sting-ray shaped roof of the Aquatics Centre and the amazing Velodrome are unforgettable and inspiring sights.

A typical tour lasts approximately 3 hours and includes a guided coach tour around the perimeter of the Olympic park. Please note there is no public access to the interior of the park, which is still a hard hat area. As part of the tour you will be able to take a short walk just inside the Olympic Park, on a raised walkway known as the ‘Greenway’ which affords great views.

Depending on the interest of each group the tour can be tailor made to focus on sustainability and green issues, the legacy that the games will have for each of the host boroughs (and London as a whole), sports management, Olympic history or construction aspects.
