Geography Workshops
The STUDYTRIPS workshops are educator led and located on the edge of the Olympic site, with magnificent views of main Stadium; Velodrome; Aquatics centre and the Village.
The sessions are 2 hours in length and have been developed to compliment the Curriculum. Choose a workshop to suit a particular key stage as follows: |
KS3 & 4 Level
My Olympic Park Your students will get the opportunity to design their own plans for the Olympic Park site, considering the location of different venues and how they will be used. They will then compare their plans to the actual design for the 2012 Games.
All change in Stratford! Your students will explore Stratford’s past, using photos, video and maps to bring the history of the Olympic Park and the surrounding area to life and then discuss how that will change the area with the help of the Olympic Park legacy plan.
A lasting legacy Your students explore the future of the Olympic Park. They listen to the views of local people and us this to help plan the ‘legacy’ beyond 2012.
A Sustainable Olympic Park? Using the Olympic site as a model, your students will investigate issues surrounding sustainability. Divided into teams (for and against), your students will identify evidence to support sustainability and debate the issues raised.
Geographical Decisions - An opportunity to see the Olympic Park, London being developed, experience the site first hand and debate how sustainable the development of the Olympic Park is.
AS & A2 Level
Re-branding East London Your students will explore the need for and impact of regeneration in branding East London, particularly the Docklands ‘brand’, and assess the re-branding potential brought by the 2012 Games.
Urban Regeneration Your students will explore the regeneration process and public-private sector partnership schemes, leading to the creation of East London as part of a ‘global city’.
